Helen's Irish SHood Story
It's good to stop for a moment and remind ourselves of the potential that exists as we (SHood) gather, equip and mobilise to point people to the one and only......Jesus Christ. I love that this can take on any shape and size - so read on and see what our 'Irish sisters' have been up to:
Our Shood Christmas party on Monday night was great fun night really relaxed & full of much laughter. The dirty santa (not dirty in a bad way just shocking name for it) was hillarious!! We had a fashion ideas segment - how to make a top out of a pair of tights!! Most inventive. Girls loved it... The Shood Christmas shop was a great success. This gave opportunity for the girls who make their own crafts, jewellery, etc, to have wee stalls set up & it worked really well. We had mulled wine nibbles when they arrived then mince pies / shortbread - tea/coffee for supper. Gave them all a wooden angel with verse on it as a wee gift for them to put on their Christmas tree.
On our Friday night SHood United we ran with the Indian theme - much as you guys did in London. ..........and we used the same DVD story of the gorgeous little Indian boy, Raj, from Vision Rescue. I talked about the value of Colour and everyone got a brochure. I'm very happy to say that to date , we have 20 very excited girls who have chosen to come to Colour 2012!! I shared for about ten minutes and then one of our gorgeous young girls sang Beyonce's "I was here". This song was significant and it definitely leant a 'wow' moment to the night - just as I beleive it did in London!
We also had 2 girls sign up for regular giving so that 2 more children could get on the bus that the global Hillsong Sisterhood are raising money to buy. In total now, across the London, Amsterdam and Irish Sisterhood gatherings, 72 children will daily be able to climb on the bus and get food, education, medical help and a personal touch from someone who cares.
